NakedPan
NakedPan is a product produced by Oigen Foundry. Situated about
500km NNE of Tokyo, Oshu city is said
to be a treasury of Japanese folklore. The land is so blessed with nature
that macrobiotic chefs and people who admire slow food go there for its
food supply. In a setting like that of old Japan, studios of just 50
workers produce traditional hand-made quality products that are used
around the world.
The NakedPan is a combination of modern design methods with
traditional firing methods. It was patented in Japan in September
2006. In 2007, the NakedPan was exhibited at Biofach Organic Trade Fair
in Nuremburg, and again in 2008. The response to the NakedPan by
customers has been very positive, with many people commenting on the
taste of food after it has been cooked in a NakedPan.
Unlike traditional cast iron pans, the NakedPan is rust proof and naturally non stick. It is suitable for cooking on:
- gas
- electric
- aga
- in the oven
- open fire
- induction stoves and hobs
In addition, the pan is made from recycled cast iron (75%) and is itself recyclable. The more the pan is used, the better it becomes.
If you wish to have a bespoke pan made using the NakedPan
methods, please contact Irashai Services Ltd via email quoting "special
order". Following a visit to Oigen Foundry in November 2008, Ngaire has
requested Oigen to manufacture a chipati pan addition to the NakedPan range. |
